I saw a baby in
a manger
With two parents, Mary and Joseph.
I saw a baby in
a manger
With two parents, Mary and Joseph,
And three wise men
Who came on four camels
(There was one to carry the presents)
I saw a baby in
a manger
With two parents, Mary and Jospeh,
And three wise men
Who came on four camels
And five shepherd
All dusty from the hills -
Oh yes, and they had six sheep with them.
(They couldn't leave them behind because of the wolves).
I saw a baby in
a manger
With two parents, Mary and Jospeh,
And three wise men
Who came on four camels
And five shepherd
With their six sheep
That couldn't be left behind,
And seven donkeys,
And eight cows
.
Then there were the angels.
They kept flying
around singing,
And it was hard to count them,
But there must have been at least nine.
Nine angels
Eight cows
Seven donkeys
Six sheep
Five shepherds
Four camels
Three wise me
Two parents
A baby.
And one
Very special star!

May
Did a spider in
that stable
Spinning silken thread
Begin to weave a halo
Above the baby's head?
What about those
beetles
Scuttling round in straw
Who sensed that this intruder
Was one they could adore?
Was there a caterpillar?
Gripping the manger's rim
Who stopped when level with his eys
To bow and worship him?
Probably some working
ants
Changed their routine plan
And marched in pairs to kneel before
This newborn little man.
We know the donkey,
lambs and sheep
Were drawn into his light
But insects would have been there too
To celebrate that night.
