Problem Solving Challenge
Fri 8th June 2006
Today we held one of our curriculum focus sessions. This one was for half a day and we focussed on Numeracy and problem solving.
The children were grouped in twelve family groups and worked on mathematical problems. Each group was given a folder with four problems to work on; they had to work on one problem at a time, talk about it with their adult helper and present their solutions.
During the course of the morning all the children went out on the playground for a multi-skills session with our SASP teacher. Normally the children work in multi skills in class groups, but for a change they worked in family groups. This made the session a bit different and very exciting. The year 6 children, I am told, were wonderfully supportive and helpful.
